Background Information:
Thermal Cycling is a technology that is used throughout the world. The vast majority of systems utilise a Peltier heating and cooling device with a heat transfer block. There are a number of drawbacks with these systems, such as Peltier failure, poor well to well reproducibility and plate density specific heat transfer blocks. The original PCR’s were first performed in three water baths. We have taken this to the next level by creating a fully integrated, touch screen controlled robotic water bath system for PCR that fits onto a laboratory bench.
How does it work?
The Hydrocycler has three independently controllable water baths, programmable from the touch screen embedded PC.A method is created by simply choosing temperature (gradient or not), time in each bath and number of cycles. The method is subsequently run and the basket containing the PCR plates is placed in the correct bath for the defined time and number of cycles.
