GC biotech is pleased to announce that it will be the distributor for Chemagen products in Belgium. Chemagen focuses on large volume nucleic acid purification, based on its proprietary magnetic bead technology. The advantage of this technology is that magnetic bead kits are ideal for automation.
Classical methods of DNA and RNA isolation are based on column or precipitation methods requiring centrifugation or vacuum steps. This is often a limiting step for high throughput automation. Chemagen differs from other manufactures by using its chemagic Magnetic Separation Module (MSM) I. The chemagic MSM I uses magnetisable rods to attract the magnetic beads. Next, the beads can be transferred to another tube containing the next buffer and are efficiently resuspended by switching of the electromagnet and stirring of the rod. This can be repeated several times for the different buffers, resulting in high yield and purity of the nucleic acids compared to other technologies. Posted by GC biotech on 22-02-2008 - 11:10 |
